Clip In for Gray Hair

 

Kim had a small, neatly made bun at the back of her hair. She was concerned about hair thinning due to alopecia and wanted to know if there was a way to make her hair look a little fuller.

I showed her a custom-made set of clip-in extensions and applied three pieces — one from ear to ear and one on each side. Since she still had enough natural hair, I told her I could make her a full set to add both volume and length if she wished.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have hair in her color — a beautiful salt-and-pepper gray — at that time. I told her that if she could bring hair in her color and preferred length, I could make a perfectly matching set for her.

A few days later, she brought the salt-and-pepper hair! It was a perfect match and just the right amount — 3.4 oz. I made a three-piece set for her and applied it. The result looked just like her own natural hair.

Kim was very happy with the result and kindly allowed me to take her before-and-after photos and post them on my blog.

Wig Styling - Style a wig like your hair

 

One afternoon, a customer called and asked if I could style her wig like the one in a photo. After she described her wig, I said yes.

The photo above shows the finished look. She planned to add hair ornaments to complete the style because her event was the next day.

It was a bit challenging since the wig wasn’t fully hand-tied — it had wefts — so I had to be careful to spread the hair evenly to keep the wefts from showing. That’s also why we adjusted the style slightly from the reference photo.

She asked me to share these photos on my blog to show others who wear wigs that they can style their wigs however they like.

Ponytail - Tailless, Inserted Ponytail

She already had hair but wanted more volume to create a thick French braid.

At the same time, she dreamed of having a ponytail—but didn’t want the usual wrapped look around her own hair.

 

 After a detailed consultation, she chose an O’ra European Human Hair Straight (3oz) in color 14-184 (18/24). I used it to create a tailless ponytail just for her.

When she returned for the fitting and pickup, she asked if I could French braid her hair together with the ponytail. I did—and the result was a full, beautiful braid that blended seamlessly with her natural hair.

She was so happy with her new look!

Clip-In Partial

 

Thank you, Evelyn, and thank you to her mom for allowing me to take and share these photos here on my blog.

A mother brought her beautiful daughter, Evelyn, whose hair was missing on one side of her head. 

Fortunately, she still had about two inches of hair on top—just enough to conceal the clip-in part of a weft extension once it was made. 

I carefully measured the area of hair loss, calculated the weft’s width, and determined the exact placement for the clips so the extension would stay secure and blend seamlessly without showing.

The weft hair we selected was slightly darker than Evelyn’s natural shade. 

She loved how it looked even more than her own hair and decided to color her hair to match the extension.

A few days later, Evelyn and her mom returned to pick it up.

 I fitted the clip-in extension, blended it with her natural hair, and the result was beautiful!

Wig Conversion: From Half Wig to Banded Wig

 

After adding Elastic band, a half wig became a banded wig.

The ribbon is detachable. 

Any other decoration or some bobbie pins could be placed instead.

Sabeena likes her topper because its small base, but she wanted it to have longer hair.

Below are the materials, process and the final result of the customization. 

 

 

18-inch Remi Body Wave Hair

Fortunately, I found an 18-inch hair weft in the same color: 1B/30 Body wave.

Since she only wanted to add some volume to her own hair, she didn't need the full 4 oz of hair. 

I decided to use one-third of the weft to lengthen the topper and used soft lace to widen the base.

She wanted the hair to be straightened, as her natural hair is barely wavy.

Clip-In Extensions - Curly

Ashley stopped by without much expectation, simply wondering if she could find a set of human hair curly clip-in extensions. She had been using synthetic clip-ins—buying them as needed, wearing them briefly, and throwing them away when they quickly wore out.

At the time, I didn’t have the exact curl pattern she was looking for, but I showed her a sample set of custom-made wet & wavy hair extensions. I explained that I could create a custom clip-in set tailored to her desired curl pattern, piece sizes, and widths, all based on her natural hair. Given that Ashley's hair was fine with low density, I recommended a split weft technique for a more natural and seamless blend.

After a thoughtful consultation, she decided on the following: 

      Bohyme Human Hair Brazilian Wave 18” – Color #1 
      Custom clip-in set – 4 pieces 
      Split weft construction  
      Final curls added after the set was completed

          When she returned on the promised day and saw her new clip-ins, Ashley was thrilled—and kindly            allowed me to take before and after photos to share her transformation.  

She loved seeing the added volume and thickness in her hair.  She was happy with the new length after applying the extensions.
