A Wig That Looked Ready to Be Thrown Away

Margaret has been my client for the past 10 years. She always wears a human hair wig and comes to me for washing and restyling, especially before her overseas trips.

Long ago, she brought her wig for a wash and restyle but didn’t bring an extra one to wear home. I suggested a comparatively inexpensive synthetic wig that looked like her human hair wig, and she decided to buy it.

A few days ago, she told me this would be her last overseas trip. She purchased a new wig and had me cut and style it. Before leaving, she handed me a worn-out wig and said, "Please wash it and restyle it if you can. If not, that's okay too. This will be the last service for this wig."

It was the one she had bought two and a half years ago.

I always brush wigs before washing, but this one was too tangled to even comb. I had no choice but to shampoo it first to remove the dirt and then let it dry. 

           

Fortunately, the wig was heat-friendly. I experimented with different styling tools until I found the right one and the right technique.

Now, I’m in a dilemma. 

Restoring this wig was a challenge, but I made it work. The process was fun, and the results were rewarding, but it took a lot of time. 

So, I’m not sure whether I should accept this kind of order again in the future.

I recently transformed a WannaBe-LH Remy Mango wig into two gorgeous ponytails:

• The original wig weighed 4.6 oz (131 g), and after deconstructing it, I carefully separated the wefts. The wefts varied in length, with longer strands from the top to the upper middle and shorter strands from the lower middle to the nape. I divided them into short wefts and long wefts to create two distinct ponytails.

• Short Ponytail: Made with 1.8 oz (51 g) of short wefts, perfect for a chic, everyday look.

• Long Ponytail: Crafted from 1.7 oz (48 g) of long wefts, ideal for adding drama and length to your style.

Each piece features a lace base for a natural fit and double-sided velcro tape for easy attachment. While I prefer working with new wefts, I’m happy to help you breathe new life into your old wigs if they’re in good condition.

Topper made from a full wig

 

When my client A brought her mother to me, she was searching for a solution to her mother's extremely thin hair. She hoped for something made of human hair, as her mother didn’t want to wear a full wig.

I explained the pros and cons of human hair versus synthetic options and let her try on a synthetic wig that was almost an exact match to her natural hair color and texture. To make it work for her, I folded the back of the wig, allowing her own hair to blend beautifully with the wig’s hair. They loved the concept and left excited about the possibilities.

Just a week later, her custom topper was ready. Her mother loved it so much that they immediately ordered a second one in the same design!

My client wanted an easy-to-wear ponytail and showed me one made of synthetic hair.
I created a similar ponytail using human hair, which she later colored herself.
Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to take a picture of her wearing the ponytail.

Ponytail Tailless

 

Ponytail (Thicker) without a Wrap-around Tail

This client wanted her ponytail to be thicker but didn't want a wrap-around tail. 

Since her hair color was very delicate, I had to blend two bundles of hair to achieve the right shade.

I recommended a tailless ponytail with split wefts. 

Ultimately, I made two ponytails to distribute the volume and blend the color seamlessly.
She later cut one shorter, so now she has both short and long ponytails.

 This Ponytail Hair Extension is Custom Made from machine made weft hair extensions. 

My customer wanted 1-piece clip-in, but her hair color was so delicate. She purchased 2 bundles of 3-oz weft so that I can blend them to match her hair color.

The 2 bundles, that made 6 oz of hair was too much for 1-piece clip-in extension. She wanted a ponytail out of the rest.

This client brought me a hairpiece that she made herself and asked if I could create a similar one professionally.
Her hair color was very delicate, so I blended two bundles of hair with split wefts to achieve the perfect match.
Since she purchased two bundles of hair and wears her ponytail high, I also recommended making a tailless pony in addition to replicating her original design.

Ponytail

Classic Ponytail/ Custom-made 

This ponytail is made from a Wet & Wavy weft hair. 

My client wanted a curly ponytail, but we only had straight and wavy weft hair available. 

I recommended Wet & Wavy weft hair and created the ponytail while the hair was straight.

Then, I wet it with water and allowed it to dry naturally, forming a kinky-textured ponytail.

These ponytails are made from straight weft hair. 

This client brought her own hair weft for me to make into a ponytail. 

Her hair was already thick, but she wanted it even thicker. 

The hair was human, but no further details about it were available.
